1920’S HISTORIC RESIDENCE

This 1920’s historic home was originally built by a stone mason. When enlarging a view from the living room to the outdoor pool, and inserting a large steel and glass picture window, it was discovered that the walls were 18 inches thick of pure hand laid stone, with interior walls covered in horse hair and plaster. Aspects of the home were modernized in the renovation, transforming an open air porch into a sleek kitchen with a custom designed stainless steel island as the focal point. The juxtaposition of the stainless steel with the original stone exterior wall (which was preserved in the new kitchen) lends an invigorating combination of the humble material with sleek modernity. An extensive art collection has been carefully curated to enhance the stately beauty of the home. An elegant original staircase centers the front entry of the house, bringing movement and light into the main floor upon entering. Deep window sills and large room openings are gracious features that add to the historic yet modern feeling of this beautiful home.
