HOME

You must learn to be still in the midst of activity. And to be vibrantly alive in repose.”—- Indira Gandhi

This classic 1930’s home was purchased from the original owners 30 years ago. Since that time it has been renovated with modern touches such as a large family kitchen addition, a glass “box” office, and steel and glass doors. Original architectural details such as plaster walls made of marble dust and lime, glass tiles, and many original windows and doors have been preserved. The dining room walls were stripped of their original wallpaper and the plaster hand cleaned and polished to a smooth sheen, imperfections and all.

The home is a perfect backdrop for family gatherings as well as solitary activities and creative endeavors. The interiors reflect white or neutral colors in order to highlight the extensive collection of paintings, photography and sculptures. A refined simplicity without overworked decoration or extraneous objects unifies the rooms, creating a nice flow throughout the home. A certain calmness and order is felt when entering. Stillness and solitude are a necessity for creating art and contemplating ideas.
